R.A.W. (Real Art Work) is about to begin!  Starting Tuesday May 29th, 2012 until June 15th 2012 artists, including myself, will be making art at the Oak Park Public Library.  This is no ordinary event.  The artists will be in what is called the “Idea Box.”   The artists who could choose to participate come from a Facebook page called “Daily Artist Canvas and More (DCAM.) The space was made available by the Oak Park Public Library.  They have an IDEA BOX.  Faith Humphrey Hill and Stephen hill came up with a fantastic idea and here we are…

Every day you can come to the library and see something I think is really awesome, artists working in real-time.  We will be behind an enclosed glass space, we can look at you, you can look at us and that is the extent of the communication, “seeing.” The public can not enter until June 19th.   You will  see an artist’s mind, behavior, method in process.  Super cool right?  We are essentially performing for you by being ourselves and creating for everyone.  While we are in you can see who is working, our name will be on the door and you can click the QR code, or go to our website by another means to get some feel for what we may be up to or who we are.  You will never really know until you meet us at the reception! Most artists will have what they have been working on for sale and 20% of our sales will go directly to the Oak Park Public Library! How cool is that!?  It is a win-win for everyone.

To me it is a place for you to see how we work, what we use to work, what we look like when we work, how we set up our individual work spaces.   It is also a place I hope to inspire and be inspired. Though we will be individual we will have to do something many of us have not done before, be watched and work with others in our “artistic space.”  We also won’t be taking our art home!  We leave what we do on the wall, mid painting/drawing, etc or finished if that is the case, and come back to it.  There will be new art to see EVERY DAY. The art is physically only for this space, something that most artists are again, not used to. It will be our artist home away from home.  It will be as much as an adventure for you as it is for us!

There will be much more information as this project piece progresses.  Come check back here or at fourhillsart.blogspot.com or biolumglass.com.  Feel free to leave any feedback during the course of this or ask any questions.

My particular schedule will be posted here and on my Facebook page Bright Olive A as soon as possible.  Yes, we have schedules! Some of us our even making uniforms.  Go artists and the Oak Park Public Library for being super cool.  Look forward to seeing you…
